Tommy found his love for the creative arts through dance, filmmaking, photography, and playing the violin. He is now making time to dance, teach, and organize events while being a full-time student at UBC.
Tommy Nguyen resettled to his hometown Vancouver at age 8 after living in California for five years. In Vancouver, he found solace in an after-school program that provided a gateway to the creative arts.
Tommy explored his love for the creative arts through dance, filmmaking, photography, and playing the violin. He began his b-boy/breaking career in 2010 with instructor Yoshi Hisanaga. Tommy now contributes to the dance scene by hosting events and competing with his dance crew—The Haste Things. Tommy also instructs b-boy/b-girl classes at schools and community centres such as the Hastings and Thunderbird Community Centre. In addition, he is a part of the organizing team for the Vancouver Street Dance Festival, an annual event that celebrates and shares Vancouver’s diverse street dance culture at Robson Square. Tommy is currently attending the University of British Columbia to develop skills in business and creative arts.
